Prof. Sukumar Mishra

Director, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad

Prof. Sukumar Mishra has taken over the charge as Director, Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad with effect from 15th May 2024. An acclaimed researcher and effective administrator, Prof. Mishra has carved a niche for himself in the field of Electrical Engineering.

As part of his administrative role, he has served as Dean, Research and External Engagement, IIT Delhi–Abu Dhabi Campus, and as Associate Dean (R&D). He has also worked closely with the Delhi Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) as an Executive Committee member. His research expertise spans Power Systems, Power Quality Studies, Renewable Energy, and Smart Grids.

With extensive industrial experience, Prof. Mishra has received numerous honours, including the Young Scientist Award (1999) from the Orissa Bigyan Academy, the INSA Medal for Young Scientist (2002), the INAE Young Engineer Award (2002), the INAE Silver Jubilee Young Engineer Award (2012), the Samanta Chandra Shekhar Award (2016), the Bimal Bose Award (2019), the NASI–Reliance Platinum Jubilee Award (2019), the National Mission Innovation Championship Award (2019), the INAE Outstanding Teachers Award (2021), the Innovation Leadership Award (2023), and the Prof. K.L. Chopra Applied Research Award (2023), among others.
